Totley Age Profiles 1851-1911
This Excel-compatible spreadsheet summarizes the numbers of people in each of the Censuses between 1851 and 1911 by their gender, age and marital status and, after statistical smoothing, illustrates the results in graphs such as the one below for females in 1871.

There are a number of worksheets within the file with pairs of graphs for males and females shown on a separate tab, normally at the bottom of the page.
Notice the impact of the opening of the Cherry Tree Orphanage on the number of teenagers between the 1861 and 1871 Censuses and the substantial increases not just of 15-35 year old men but also young women and children with the arrival of the navvies and their families in the 1891 Census.
